Famine, diseases, and wars over the last few decades have also affected population growth. Nevertheless, the continent as whole currently has a population growth rate of 3%. Africa can be divided into five regions: North Africa, West Africa, Central Africa, East Africa and Southern Africa. Each of these represents a cultural and geographic region which is different from the others in many ways. The four main language families are: Afro-Asiatic, Niger-Congo, and Nilo-Saharan, and Khoisan.   Text Box: Africa is a big continent Continent with more than 680,000,000 people living there.
