ADD/ADHD
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) affect a group of children who lack concentration. Their short attention span often gives rise to behaviour that is extremely disruptive in the classroom. The causes of this condition have given rise to much research in recent years. There is consensus that the frontal lobes of the brain are under-stimulated. Drug therapies such as ritalin act as a stimulant and in this state of equilibrium the child is able to focus attention. Other research looking at the effects of fatty acids in the diet suggest that a change of diet can alter behaviour in some children.
