Definition
Quite a number of students with specific learning difficulties experience difficulties in mathematics and general activities involving number work. This difficulty is generally termed dyslexia and can result from a number of causes possibly stemming from short term memory difficulties or visual perceptual difficulties. Often exercises in maths have accompanying written instructions which need to be accurately read and understood before the problem can be solved. Dyslexic children will usually have difficulty with this as well as the actual mathematical computation.
