VC: MMR The Big Debate

Video Conference club joined up, with the Sarson Science club, to take on the topic MMR. We talked to a friendly lady, at the Welcome Library. A few weeks before, we had been given questions about, the topic that was in the news at that time, ‘Does the MMR vaccine, cause Autism.’

"It's in the news at the moment. Does MMR Cause Autism."

Many parents, were at the time getting very worried about giving there child the MMR Vacine, and some were even, staying clear of it all together. The main reason for this, was that at the time, there were many rumors travling around that the vaccine caused Autism and other related illnesses, in younge children who took the jab.

We were set the task, to try and find out if there was any truth in these rumors. We spent many weeks reaching during the Science Club Meetings, with Miss Dixon and Miss Bradley.

Finaly all our work paid off when we got through and talked to a representive of the welcome libray. During the conference we looked at the History of the different vaccines and found out that only a few years before the vancine was given three separate jabs, ‘Measles’, ‘Mumps’ and ‘Rubella’.

We all came to the solution that there wasn’t any truth in these rumors and that  Parents had no need to worry. After all, it make a child far more ill if they ever caught MMR and had not had the vaccine, than if they had had the vaccine, and caught, a very slim chance they would, Autism.
